What is a Caregiver?
This refers to a person who provides care for another. They relieve that individual or their family member of the burden and offer support in particular areas of need. The goal of a Caregiver is to make life easier, more comfortable, and safer.
What are ADLs?
Activities of Daily Living are things that may involve physical contact in order to provide care. Examples include bathing, feeding, dressing, and transferring. IADLs, or instrumental activities of daily living are tasks that may not, such as shopping, light housework (laundry & dish washing), meal planning/preparation, running errands, managing money, and assisting with communication devices (writing emails, making phone calls, sending texts, taking notes, etc.).
Home Care VS Home Health Care?
Home care fulfills the requirements of ADL and/or IADL needs. Nurses, physical/occupational therapists, and other medical providers provide home health care services. These may include but are not limited to managing medications, providing physical/occupational therapies, wound care, managing IV lines & infusion therapy, and other skilled nursing care.
